Canella is reportedly being targeted by Fulham, Wigan and Aston Villa.
Sporting sold Michel to Brimingham earlier this month in a £3million deal.
“The exit of Canella in January is impossible, after the sale of Michel we will not reduce the squad further. This is a definite decision,” Sporting sources confirmed to Sky Sports.
