The 19-year-old has impressed for City and is currently earning just £1,500 a week with bonuses at the club.
News of the World says the youngster can now expect to see his wages increased to £8,000 a week.
Boyata said: “I’m well aware I’ve mainly been playing because Kolo, Nedum Onuoha and Joleon Lescott have not been available.
“Having said that, it’s true the manager could have played a more experienced outfield player at the back. I’m really happy the manager has trusted me and has faith in me.
“The one problem I have got is that sometimes I get told that I am lazy – I need to change the perception quickly!
“I’m just relaxed and laid-back and I suppose some people could confuse that with laziness but it isn’t the case at all.”
