Rooney has been a hit at United since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid last summer.
“It doesn’t impress me because I know the quality Rooney has. He was always brilliant when I played with him,” the Portuguese forward said on Sky Sports News.
“I played with him for three or four years and he was always brilliant, not just this season.
“This season he has played very well and scored many goals but he is still the same player. He is fantastic and a winner.”
“I hope to play with him again some day,” he added.
“I don’t know if this is possible but I am really happy for him and for all the players at Manchester.”
