The Sunday Mirror claims City will make a move for Higuain, should they fail to sign Liverpool star Fernando Torres.
City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to have Higuain link up with Carlos Tevez at the top next season.
Higuain is currently in talks over a new contract at Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants are refusing to meet the striker’s £100,000-a-week wage demands.
