Platt was confirmed as a new member of Roberto Mancini’s backroom staff at Eastlands earlier this week.
But Platt began his career at rivals Manchester United and is reportedly still a big fan of the Red Devils.
One City fan told the Sunday Mirror: “Platt may be an old friend of Roberto Mancini.
“But this is a PR own goal. And the only way it could have been worse was if he had appointed Gary Neville as a coach.
“Every City fan knows from Platt’s comments as a pundit that he has no respect whatsoever for the club – but now he is happy to take our money.”
