The Daily Mail reports that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been an admirer of the Everton starlet for months.
Ferguson considered making a bid for Rodwell in the January transfer window, but Everton were not ready to let the youngster leave before the summer.
Ferguson said: “We had an interest in one player and had a chance of bringing him in, but the other parties involved weren’t ready and so we have put it away until the summer.”
