Boateng was sent back to Manchester for assessment and will now require surgery which comes as a blow to City, who are currently without another full back in Micah Richards who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
It’s difficult yet to determine how long 22 year old Boateng’s recovery will take, but Richards aims to return by mid April for City’s FA Cup semi final vs rivals Man United. Richards said:
“I will do anything and everything to be ready for that game. “Some of the other lads have used an oxygen tent to help them recover more quickly from injuries so I am willing to give it a go.”
“I will sleep in the thing if necessary. I want to be available for that game against United. It is going to be a great occasion.”
