Wilshere had surgery on his right ankle in London yesterday and the Gunners have claimed the midfielder would be out for ‘four to five months’.
The Sun reports that Wilshere has now been told that he will be out of action for six months. Should the midfielder suffer a small setback he could miss the rest of the season.
Wilshere said: “I’ve had my operation and all went well. My ankle is a little bit sore, but I’m already looking forward to working hard to get fit and playing again.
“I would also just like to say thanks for the many messages of support I have received from you — the fantastic Arsenal supporters. See you all soon at the Emirates.”
