Watford boss: It’s down to nerves

Boothroyd said: “We have had something like 10 clean sheets so we can defend. We have not scored anything like near enough goals, we know that, but this time we have scored two and not kept a clean sheet.

“We seem to have a lot of the pieces of the jigsaw and everybody working their socks off but it has not come right.

“I think it is down to nerves, thinking “we are winning in the Premiership, should we be able to do that?”. It is maybe the inexperience of the team in being in that position this year and maybe also the inexperience of the players age-wise in being able to close games out.

“A team like Bolton, no matter how they play, if they get a goal it is game over.”
