Wigan Athletic have joined Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town in tracking Leeds United midfielder Sam Chambers.
The Latics are considering whether the teenager could strengthen their squad on loan before the transfer window closes.
Ontheminute.com understands that Wigan are now keeping a close eye on Chambers’ situation at Elland Road. Wednesday and Huddersfield remain potential destinations, but none of the interested clubs are believed to have secured an agreement.
The 19-year-old is formally listed in Leeds’ senior squad and wears number 42. He has also represented Scotland at youth level, adding international experience to his academy development.
Leeds must now choose between retaining Chambers as first-team cover or allowing him to build confidence through regular EFL football. Any temporary switch is likely to depend on a convincing playing-time plan.
Wigan’s entry gives United another development route to consider. For Chambers, the best move may be the club prepared to offer responsibility rather than simply greater squad depth.
