Ajax coach delighted with new signing

Jol insists he never expected the Dutch side to sign a player like Pantelic.

“He appears to be ready to play a match, which surprises me a bit. I told him that things are looking good and our physiotherapist agrees that he looks fully match fit,” Jol told the official Ajax website.

“He has a big reputation in Germany and I never expected him to sign for Ajax. Many would have thought that he was on his way to one of the three big leagues. He certainly has the class to play in England, Italy or Spain.

“It’s really important for Ajax that we have signed a new striker. Pantelic is a great technician and he has great stamina, too. You are not a bad attacker when you manage to score 40 goals in the Bundesliga. It’s up to him now to prove that he is a superb forward.”
