Huntelaar scored one goal in Ajax’s 5-2 win over Sparta on Sunday, but had to leave the pitch after 38 minutes.
The 25-year-old has suffered a torn ankle tendon, scans on Monday revealed.
The Dutch side has already forwards Dario Cvitanich, Miralem Sulejmani and Darko Bodul out with injuries.
