Alonso targets World Cup glory

Spain won the game against Germany 1-0, after a header from Carles Puyol in the 73rd minute.

Spain are set to face the Netherlands in the World Cup final on Sunday.

“We had to make the cut against a great rival. We have played a very mature game, especially considering it’s the semi-final of a World Cup and being the first time we played one. We are one step to tasting the glory,” he said afterwards as quoted by AS.

“There was ten minutes in which we were playing on the edge of the area but not could not score and in the end Puyol has come like a wild boar and scored.”

The former Liverpool star is looking to get on the score sheet in Sunday’s final against the Netherlands.

“I’ve gone close but I hope to find a goal in the final,” he noted.
