With Arsenal leading 3-2 on aggregate after 60 minutes, the referee sent off Robin van Persie for intentional time wasting, despite the forward having not heard the referee blow his whistle for an offside call.
After van Persie’s red card, Barcelona took control and went on to win 3-1, leading to the Dutchman labelling the decision ‘a joke.’ Samir Nasri, Johan Djourou and Jack Wilshere all attacked the referee after the game, with the latter saying ‘we all know the decision was wrong.’
