Arsenal striker Adebayor hit back at critics

He told the Daily Mirror: “I need to work on my finishing, but I’m not so s**t in front of goal,” he told Four Four Two magazine.

“I was a good player when I joined Arsenal but I’m better now. I’m learning loads, I have more maturity and I feel I’m getting better and better.

“I’m trying to do my best, but I know there is a lot more to come from me. A lot, lot more.

“I’ve missed a lot of good chances but I’m working hard to improve my goal record. I’m still learning about English football but I’m getting better and next season I hope to show that.

“That’s why I would say last season was partly a success and partly not. It was, because I’ve shown some character and some of my qualities. But it wasn’t because I know I can show more. A lot of players will never progress because no matter what happens, their weaknesses won’t become a strength.

“I’ll never be able to run as fast as Theo Walcott no matter how hard I train. Instead I work hardest at what I’m good at – heading, holding up the ball, keeping possession and playing with my back to goal.”
