German sports magazine Kicker insists there has been no direct contact from Aston Villa, but the Premier League side is planning a January move for the defender.
The 22-year-old’s current contract with Hamburg is set to expire in the summer of 2014.
Italian side Roma are also reported to be interested in signing the Hamburg defender.
