Local television and radio stations in the city have reported that Rosell has won around 62% of the vote.
Outgoing President Laporta has not hidden the fact that he was not in favor of his former understudy replacing him. Laporta had favored Juame Ferrer to take over.
Laporta said: “I think I should be allowed to give my opinion as president on who should be the new president.”
He added: “I have positioned myself in favour of the candidacy that I believe will be the best option to safeguard the future of the club.”
