Bassong is desperate for regular first-team action, but has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.
The 24-year-old told the News of the World: “I admit I’m disappointed. I was a regular last season but this season I have spent a lot of time on the bench. It hurts being constantly overlooked.
“If I’m not playing for Tottenham, then maybe I’m not much use to them.
“I want to stay but if you’re not playing, you have to consider your options.
“It would be irresponsible not to.”
