Aquilani, who joined Liverpool from Roma this summer, played the last 15 minutes of the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
“I think that he showed quality,” Benitez told Sky Sports. “He’s a player that has quality, his match fitness is something that he can only improve playing games so we will see.
“You can see today that he did two or three good passes, in training you can see the same.”
