Blackburn set to sign Scotland striker

The Daily Record reports that Goodwillie should complete his £2million move to Blackburn Rovers today.

Goodwillie held talks with Blackburn to finalise his £1million-a-year deal yesterday.

Dundee United boss Peter Houston said: “I’m led to believe it’s almost done with Blackburn. I spoke to the chairman at full-time and he says it’s almost there. I think it will happen on Monday.”

He continued: “Without a doubt, they’ve got a bargain. If David had been playing in the Championship, rather than the SPL, a club would have paid much more.

“But the SPL don’t get a lot of money from English sides. If the chairman has got what he’s looking for, it will help the club.

“I don’t know if he will play every week in the Premiership, being honest. But that’s not my decision, that’s Stevie Keane’s.

“David will become a Premiership player in due time. It might take him a while to get used to it – but he has the talent to play there in the near future. If he goes, good luck to him.”

Blackburn managed to beat Rangers and Blackpool in the race to sign the young forward.
