The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with both AC Milan and Juvenuts in recent weeks.
“I understand that Matri is liked by many clubs – if that was not the case then he would not be in my team,” he told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“I am building a new stadium and players are part of that strategy, what is the point of having a new ground with no players to use it.
“I am thinking about Cagliari. The interest from big clubs is pleasing, but I want to give my players the right chances professionally.
“Matri and the others will continue winning with us.”
