Cahill refuses to rule out Bolton exit

The 23-year-old is happy at Bolton, but could be interested in a move to a ‘big club’.

He said: “Being linked with top clubs gives you a boost. It has got to do. It shows how far I’ve come. But, although it is nice to read positive things about yourself, I don’t like to dwell on that.

“There is nothing that is going to happen at this stage of the season anyway and it is a matter of just getting my head down for Bolton and keep trying to put in the performances that have got me here.

“I had two years left of my contract at Bolton and I just extended it by a year. It was a big decision but it wasn’t because I was happy playing my football there.

“I’ve been comfortable since I’ve been there, I’ve settled in the area so things were still progressing the way that I would like them to progress.

“In the future, who knows what is going to happen? If a big club comes in, there is not going to be a problem with that but at the moment I am enjoying my time at Bolton and have done since I’ve been there.

“I’ve still got a lot to learn but I’m enjoying my football.”
