David Beckham’s contract with the Spanish giants, expires next summer, and it has been rumored that he might be on his way to US team New York Red Bulls.
Calderon said: “Beckham is a genius on and off the pitch and he is a wonderful person in every sense.
“From a human point of view, he is one of the most charitable and lovely people that I have ever met.
“I know that [Madrid’s sporting director] Predrag Mijatovic is in talks with him regarding his contract extension.
“I would love him to stay because he is a great player.”
