The Major League Soccer side are prepared to smash their wage structure and offer the former Real Madrid midfielder up to £1.55m a season.
Makelele said: “I have not decided where I will play next season.
“I could stay with Chelsea as I am under contract for next season.
“The United States is an option. It would not prevent me from playing for France – ask the coach.”
