Chelsea wants the Ivory Coast star to delay the procedure, but Drogba is determined to play in the African tournament.
A close friend of Drogba told the Sun: “Didi understands the problem this potentially causes for the club but they have known for a long time about the African Nations Cup.
“He has a responsibility to his country and is captain of the team. Didi is very passionate about playing for the Ivory Coast and does not want to let them down.”
