Coventry City are poised to complete the signing of Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley on a free transfer.

The experienced stopper will arrive as cover for new first choice Carl Rushworth, strengthening the Premier League newcomers’ depth between the posts.

talkSPORT chief football correspondent Alex Crook says the agreement is expected to be confirmed later on Friday. Bentley is therefore set to leave Molineux despite starting Wolves’ 2-2 Championship draw with Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

The move brings an unexpected conclusion to Wolves’ goalkeeping reshuffle. Bentley had previously looked the most likely senior option to stay, while José Sá and Sam Johnstone faced uncertain futures.

His departure now points towards Sá remaining with the club beyond the transfer deadline. The Portuguese goalkeeper is expected to start away at Preston North End this weekend.

For Coventry, the deal adds proven experience without a transfer fee. Bentley will provide competition for Rushworth as the Sky Blues prepare for their top-flight return.
