Cuper has signed a one-year contract with the Spanish side. The former Real Betis boss had been out of work since leaving Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in January.
A statement on Santander’s official website reads: “Hector Cuper will be the new Racing Santander coach during the 2011-12 season.
“He has signed a contract and will be flanked by assistant coach Jose Carlos Fandagushi, and Angel Puebla who will be the athletic coach.”
