Cvitanich joined the Dutch side from Banfield last summer for 6million euros.
Huntelaar will join Spanish giants Real Madrid in January.
“We anticipated Huntelaar’s transfer last summer already when we bought Dario [Cvitanich]. We would lose our credibility if we sign another replacement now,” said technical director Danny Blind to Het Parool.
“Furthermore, we have two very talented strikers in our reserves and youth academy with Darko Bodul and Geoffrey Castillion. However, it’s always hard to say if they’ll make it to the senior side.”
