De Jong rules out Man City exit

De Jong’s current contract with City is set to expire next summer.

“My contract runs for another year, so I’m in a pretty good position,” De Jong told Dutch magazine NUsport.

“I want to stay [at Manchester City]. I’ve been at the club for three years and I’m feeling really well. I have won the FA Cup and the league title, which are the biggest trophies in England.”

De Jong joined City in a £18million deal from Bundesliga side Hamburg in January 2009.

“I saw the club change from complete mayhem at the training facilities into a real top club, and that’s great to see,” he enthused.

“It’s part of the job that I occasionally warm the bench. We have a squad rotation system. I prefer to play all games, but it’s all about the team.

“We eventually won the title, so it was worth it.”
