The 27-year-old defender has been told he does not feature in new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson’s plans.
“If it is necessary after all, I am going to change clubs,” he told Swiss newspaper BLICK.
“I am not keen on sitting on the bench any longer, the last two years were enough. No one should really forget it needs hard work to recover from injuries and get back to the usual level of performances.
“And I have had really good matches for the club.”
