Dempsey’s brace against Chelsea on Sunday secured a 2-2 draw against their rivals.
He said: “I understand it’s part of football but I’m not going to hide from the fact that I want to be playing.”
The 25-year-old joined Fulham from New England Revolution two years ago.
Dempsey added: “Along with Jimmy Bullard and Simon Davies I think I’ve been here the longest, which is crazy.
“But I’ve showed I can play at this level. I’m trying to be a part of this wave that we’re on.”
