The Sun says Surkis spent 90 minutes on the phone to Sheva trying to persuade him to return to Ukraine.
He said: “Andriy is not getting into the team at Chelsea – that’s a fact.
“Given the situation, I’d love to bring him back here for three months. I’d pay him the same wages.
“We’re in a situation where a striker who plays for the Ukraine national team is not getting any time on the pitch.
“Jose Mourinho needs to explain his position to Andriy. I don’t know why he isn’t playing him.”
