Everton boss delighted with display against Chelsea

The Toffees managed a 1-0 win at Goodison Park thanks to a magnificent solo effort from Jermaine Beckford.

Moyes told Sky Sports: “Oh, I was really pleased with the performance. The players played great.

“And they deserved it. I thought they played really well. You know, we went down to 10-men and it was always going to difficult.

“Chelsea kept coming from different angles but you know it was a special goal which won the game. Probably Chelsea won’t enjoy it but from our point of view it was a really good goal.

Moyes added on Beckford’s goal: “Unbelievable! He gets the ball in his own box and he finishes in their box, going past I don’t know how many, maybe three or four players, I don’t know how many and it really was Roy of the Rovers stuff.

“When people see it, they will be saying, my goodness, it really was. And when you’re down to 10-men and he goes on a run like that, you’re saying ‘please run it into the corner’, but he keeps going right through the middle and even Cech sort of saves it.

“I’m watching from behind and it’s spinning and spinning and it just goes inside the post.

“I mean, that really is some kind of story line stuff. It was a great goal. I think Beckford has had a brilliant season.”
