Cahill believes that his side can manage a derby double against the Reds, who they managed to beat 2-0 at Goodison Park in October.
“Liverpool are in a bit of bother at the moment,” said the Australian.
“But really we’ve no concern about what’s going on there. This is all about us and the desire to do it for the fans, manager David Moyes and ourselves.
“In games like this, you must ensure you give everything. It’s down to your work ethic and spirit and we know what great spirit we have at Everton.
“Over the worst times in the last six or seven seasons, that spirit has brought us through.
“This is a big chance to get a big result. We know it’s a game that could turn their season around again but it’s one which could kick ours on too.”
