Fernandez keen on Atletico Madrid job

But the former Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol boss will not take his interest in the job any further, as Abel Resino is Atletico’s coach.

Resino has been under fire in recent weeks due to several poor results.

“I would like to train Atleti. They are a big club and anyone would like to coach them, but Abel has a contract and I will not plan anything whilst a colleague is in charge,” Fernandez said.

“I would return to the Spanish league. I still have friends in Barcelona, Seville and Bilbao. On Sunday’s I watch the matches from France. Last week I saw [Real] Zaragoza against Getafe, and this weekend I won’t miss Sevilla and Real Madrid.”
