Former Liverpool striker targets regular role at Atletico Madrid

The French striker is confident that more minutes on the pitch will see him play better.

Sinama-Pongolle scored in Atletico’s 6-0 second lef Copa del Rey win over Marbella.

“I never doubted my ability, I’m here for a reason. The most difficult step for me was to leave Liverpool and join Recreativo [de Huelva]. That was dangerous, because people were expecting a lot from me. Then I came here and I knew that I could bring many things and always, with more minutes or less, I tried to give my all,” he told a press conference.

“For a striker, the more games you play, eqauls the more confidence gained. Right now, I have not had many. Yesterday I scored a goal, but I want this to continue, not end. I have to push a little more and move things forward.

“I have not had many opportunities and eventually when I do people are very demanding, they expect more from you. I knew when I came here there were two strikers who are very, very good and can do many things.

“I’m fine and calm, but I want to score many more goals and show that I am here because of my hard work.”
