Van Nistelrooy joined the Bundesliga side from Spanish giants Real Madrid, but has failed to bring success to Hamburg.
“When I arrived, everything was pointing in the right direction. The side was fourth and had a good chance to do well in the Champions League,” van Nistelrooy said in an interview to Bild.
“In the end, we walked away with nothing.
“It’s funny that I have come, but success has not followed. This was something I wanted to bring to the club. I have not yet done this, and it makes me sad.
“I have not heard any transfer speculation surrounding me, and intend to play here until at least the end of the season.”
