Frey joined Genoa from Fiorentina earlier this summer. Genoa have long been linked with a move for Gilardino.
“Alberto is a friend, I love him and in this case I would say that Genoa is the right club for him,” Frey told Secolo XIX.
“If he chooses Genoa, he would not be making a mistake.”
