First team coach Steve Clarke said of Gerrard; as well as injured Martin Kelly (hamstring), Jonjo Shelvey (knee operation) and Fabio Aurelio (hamstring):
“They’re all improving. They’re our four longer-term injuries, the ones that have been causing us a bit of concern recently, but hopefully they’ll all join in training next week.”
Gerrard’s return would raise Liverpool’s hopes of overtaking Tottenham, 5th in the table. The Reds are currently 4 points behind Spurs in the battle for Europa League qualification next term.
