Mason Greenwood has told his friends that he is desperate to stay at Manchester United after the criminal charges against him were dropped.

The Sun reports that he has told his friends that he has ‘learned so much’ from what he has been through and is keen to stay at Old Trafford, following reports that Adidas backed his return.

Adidas have later stated that they have had no discussions with Manchester United regarding the 21-year-old’s future at the club.

United are expected to make an final decision on Greenwood’s future before the Premier League starts.

A source told The Sun: “He’s being encouraged to speak publicly and to have his voice heard.

“But, privately, he has told those close to him that he has learned a huge amount.

“He became a father for the first time earlier this month and realises he has to grow up.

“He is grateful to Adidas — to have a sponsor like that in his corner means the world.”
