The Brazilian goalkeeper struggled in the first few months of the season, following his arrival at White Hart Lane last summer.
Gomes made several big mistakes and was expected to be replaced in the January transfer window.
“He’s been fantastic considering the start he had and the bad time he went through,” Redknapp told Hotspur magazine.
“He’s shown great character to come back from where he was.”
