Hull chairman blames Spurs’ problems on their sporting director

Duffen said: “I feel very sad for Spurs. You can feel the club’s in disarray.

“The players are trying their best but it’s a bit rudderless.

“There seems to be a disconnect between various elements of the club. The idea of having a director of football at Hull is very amusing to us.

“The clubs with the biggest problems in this country have directors of football.

“I personally don’t think it’s the way to run any successful business.

“You need a shallow hierarchy and good communication. What you don’t want is an interim layer between the board and the management.”
