Kilbane has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Tigers.
Tigers boss Phil Brown has been looking to strengthen his midfield in the January transfer window and is delighted with the new signing.
Brown said: “He is 31 years old; he has got 90-odd internationals. He has been a credit to the game at the highest level. That kind of experience is priceless to us at the moment.”
Kilbane told Wigan’s official website: “I want to thank everybody at Wigan. I have really enjoyed my time here, and the club is definitely moving in the right direction. I’d also like to thank the Wigan fans who have always been very supportive.”
