Il Corriere Dello Sport says talks have been ignited between the two club over a move for Baptista.
Inter are ready to offer Nicolas Burdisso, who is currently on loan at Roma, plus cash for Baptista.
Reports have previously linked Baptista with a loan move away from Roma.
