Jagielka is currently out with a injury that could see him miss the start of next season.
“If I had not got injured, discussions might have been a whole lot easier in the summer,” Jagielka said on the club’s website.
“The ball is in their court now and there’s not much I can do. I can’t perform for a few months but if it’s a case of me committing my future, there is no issue with that.
“If they want to do that [offer a contract], it’s not going to take very long to sort out.
“The fans, the staff, the players – everything about the club suits me.”
