Juventus sack Ranieri

The Old Lady are third in the Serie A, but Fiorentina are just one-point behind.

“Juventus have fired coach Claudio Ranieri. As of today the first-team coach is Ciro Ferrara,” said a club statement.

“Juventus thank Claudio Ranieri for the work he did in these last two years. We wish the new coach Ciro Ferrara immediate success.”

General manager Jean Claude Blanc said: “We have taken this decision as a last resort when the team is not playing well.

“We are convinced that this will deliver a clear message to the players: these final two games are fundamental and need to be played to the very best of their ability.

“Everybody has got to take responsibility.”
