Eriksson is keen on signing the 27-year-old striker after losing to LA Galaxy in the battle to sign Spurs striker Robbie Keane, according to the Mirror.
Eriksson has also failed with moves to Reading’s Shane Long, Aston Villa’s Emile Heskey and Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard this summer.
“The target is to find a striker who can score us 20 goals in a season,” said the Swede.
“But it will be difficult because it is not always about money – the problem is we are in the Championship.”
