Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli has received glowing reports on the highly-rated Kosovo-born teenager.
Xhaka has long been linked with a move to Manchester United and Basel director Georg Heitz has admitted the Premier League side are one of the clubs interested in the midfielder.
“I do not like naming names, I can only say there’s many clubs who follow him, not just Manchester United,” said Heitz.
Bundesliga side Hamburg are reportedly planning to make a £5million bid for the midfielder in the summer.
