Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool brough Chelsea’s unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge to a close.
The Blues had not been beaten at home since Arsenal’s 2-1 win in February 2004.
Liverpool made an impressive display and deserved their triumph.
