Cardozo’s current contract with Benfica is set to expire in the summer of 2014, while his new deal will keep him in Portugal until the summer of 2016.
The 28-year-old’s agent, Pedro Aldave, told O Jogo: “The kid is happy in Benfica and it will be normal to stay there, but it is necessary to settle more details.”
Cardozo was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
